Questions to explore

August 24th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Here is a partial list of some of the questions that I will be exploring on this site…

What is consciousness and are there different types of consciousness?

What does “free will” really mean and are humans really free to do as they wish?

How should knowledge be structured so that it can be managed, modeled and distributed?

What does the term “knowledge economy” really mean and how can I benefit from understanding it?

Remember the movie Altered States? Drugs, obviously, have the ability to move a person between different types or levels of consciousness; be it street drugs, anxiety medicine at the hospital, or anti-depressants that have become so popular. ( Mother’s Little Helper by the Rolling Stones? )

Free will is a fascinating question, and a very multi-faceted one. Nietzsche didn’t believe in it on cause and effect grounds. But in today’s world, you could say that we aren’t truly free to do as we wish because of external factors … people who’ve made stupid jokes about the president, and then got a visit from the FBI under the USA PATRIOT ACT.

Great questions to raise, and I can’t wait to read your answers, or at least your thoughts on the matters.
